Mindfulness Mornings

At Edenthorpe Hall, we believe it is important to start our days in a calm manner. When children enter the classroom door, there will be music playing which sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Children in FS2 and Y1 complete morning activities focused on mental health and wellbeing. These include sharing books, completing a jigsaw with a friend and completing a mindfulness colouring activity. During this time, children also learn more about emotions whilst developing their vocabulary so that they are able to communicate their feelings to others.

Children in Y2-Y6 complete a mindful morning booklet. There is a new page for each day and every day starts with a positive quote, a key word or a daily affirmation. Children enjoy the tasks such as – give someone a compliment for kindness day. In the books, the children are encouraged to explain how they are feeling each day. The children also write about what they are looking forwards to and what support they may need. To finish, the children complete a mindful colouring or drawing and always write their daily affirmation.
